Under the artistic leadership of the renowned cellist Trey Lee, Hong Kong’s Musicus Fest
makes its Finnish debut with two concerts in Espoo and Kauniainen. Talented young
musicians from Hong Kong will feature alongside members of the famous Tapiola Sinfonietta
in performances of traditional and contemporary music from East and West.
The Thursday 6 April concert features traditional Chinese tunes performed by students from
the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, as well as pieces by Hong Kong composers
Jeff Leung and Denise Hofmann, performed by the Tapiola Sinfonietta Quartet.
On Friday 7 April, Trey Lee is the soloist for the Finnish premiere of Bright Sheng’s
The Blazing Mirage for violoncello and strings. Two outstanding Hong Kong pianists,
Colleen Lee and Rachel Cheung, will also join the Tapiola Sinfonietta in Poulenc’s
Concerto for Two Pianos.
Musicus Fest is organised by the Musicus Society, a registered charity founded in 2010
under the vision of cellist Trey Lee, which aims to promote cross-cultural collaborations
between Hong Kong and overseas artists.
