Wilton’s Music Hall, 1 Graces Alley, London E1 8JB, 7.30pm
A stunning mix of cinema, jazz and classical music, Hong Kong Episodes conjures up
Hong Kong’s cosmopolitan cityscape, fast-paced lifestyle, avenues for spiritual retreat,
and colourful heritage and culture.
Hong Kong Episodes is a collaboration between two young Hong Kong musicians,
Teriver Cheung, a stand-out guitarist on the international jazz scene, and composer
Fung Lam, the youngest Chinese composer and the first Hong Kong composer ever
commissioned by the BBC, and the winner of Hong Kong Arts Development Council
Award for Young Artist (Music), and architect Anthony Lai whose evocative imagery
complements the music.
Presented in four chapters, Hong Kong Episodes is certain to leave London audiences
with a lasting impression of Hong Kong’s charm. The composers are joined by a fine
jazz quartet and top chamber players from the Hong Kong Contemporary Music Group.
Hong Kong Episodes was premiered in the World Cultures Festival 2015.
